constant headaches and facial pain after swine flu mist, after 6 months of off again on again symptoms,(headache was always present from 3to4/10 to 10/10) numerous visits to family practice and trips to ER, took 14 year old daughter to Mayo Clinic, discovered she had antibodies attacking nerve endings as a result of swine flu mist, started ivig therapy which also resulted in complications. Mayo clinic had seen 5 kids in past 30 days with same symptoms. flushing the antibodies is the only solution, delay of treatment can cause lifetime consequences.

I’m amused by the armchair scientists (who are likely either stay-at-home moms or welfare queens) saying “do the research.” What research? Internet searches? There’s a reason that after you get out of middle school, no teacher or professor worth their salt will consider that “research.” It’s mostly BS. It’s just like when you do genealogical research online. It’s exciting to find out all these “facts” about your ancestry, but when you really get serious about it you find that all your “sources” actually have a lot of incorrect information because their hunger for “facts” and “information” is greater than their desire for “provable facts” and “good information.” So one person copies the bad info, which is then copied by another, and another, and so on. You see, ignorance and a willingness to accept lies when you feel like you’ve “worked” to find them is kind of like a virus in and of itself. . .

Vaccinations are all about comparing risks. Is there a slight chance you or your child will get sick from a vaccine? Of course. However, the risk is far greater that they will get sick and die or pass on an infection to somebody else who will die without the vaccine. People who think vaccines are dangerous are no different than people who are afraid of going outside for fear of being struck by lightning. Yes, it happens, but it’s highly arrogant and presumptuous that you are somehow special and will be the one to “win the lottery” so to speak.

Look at the stats of people getting serious illnesses from vaccines and then compare those to the chances of dying in a car accident, bicycle, drowning in a pool, or even just getting killed by a family member. It’s really no contest. Some things are worth worrying about, some aren’t. And though it may make you feel special to think it so, the whole world is not out to get you. . .

I love when people say, as long as people practice good hygiene, haha, thats funny. I watched hundreds of elementary school children get the Flumist up their noses this week and they are all wiping their noses with their hands all day. I will not be surprised when half the school is sick with swine next week. Not to mention the high school kids who got it and kssed their girlfriends or boyfriends moments later…..they need to explain this to kids.

What people are not even considering is that vaccinations are MEDICATIONS that should only be given after a complete checkup from a doctor to make sure that you are “healthy” enough to build immunity. We should not be lining our children up like sheep to the slaughter. I am not anti-vaccine, but I am for responsible vaccinations, an adjusted schedule, and leaving some off altogether. Children need to be in the utmost health, take Vitamin C, Zinc, D, etc, and rest on the day and even day after receive vaccinations. Any doctor knows this because the immune system is taxed and working to build immunity. So why are we giving this at schools and sending them back to class? Some children are going to feel bad, and also shed this live virus. if you are a responsible parent take your child to the doctor and keep them home for several days for “their” health. It’s just like the live oral polio virus. You CAN contract polio from it and even pass polio on to immunocompromised people for WEEKS. What’s the difference with the FLU mist? That’s why the live oral polio vaccine is NOT part of the regular schedule anymore. You ONLY get it if you are leaving the country. It takes YEARS to study and figure out the long-term effects of vaccines on the population and modifications are made. What about ROTASHIELD?? I’m not letting my children be guinea pigs. Time will tell. Is this responsible health care? Not only that, but the H1N1 vaccines have resulted in defintie, direct, proven serious neurologial side effects like ataxia and GBS. There’s PROOF that the vaccine can do this. I would rather take my chances with catching the flu than dealing with a lifelong disability. Why take this risk???? With the internet at our fingertips, let’s DO the RESEARCH on each medication and vaccine before blindly receiving it and manage your own health. Ultimately, we all have to choose and are responsible for our own decisions.

my daughter got her second dose of the nasal today and i was so mad (still am).
for some reason this time around she got really scared and worked up. she was so upset that she started spitting up afterwards and the nurse got mad and said she was spreading the live virus all over the room and that the vaccine would probably not work now. i was livid. they are suppose to be the “professionals”. you don’t get mad at a 4 year old for spitting up for any reason and if they don’t want “live virus” spread around the room they shouldn’t even be using it to inoculate children. if there is one thing that children are good at, it’s spreading live virus!

i don’t know if it will work or not but one thing is for sure, my child will not be getting the nasal spray again!

i absolutely love the rationale “i/my son/my daughter/my spouse got the shot/mist a few days ago and i/he/she is just fine!” oh really? a few days should tell you with absolute certainty that it is safe. good call. but i guess these are the same people who don’t care that it hasn’t even been completely tested on children but rush their babies right in for a good dose of poison. if this truly is some sort of population control, i guess we can rest at ease knowing that survival of the fittest still holds true.

Obviously there is some controversy. If someone could link to some evidence either way, that would be helpful instead of just trying to attack Tom because you don’t think he is as qualified as the author of this article. Reward their obedience with a trip to McDonald’s. Vote Republican or Democrat. Audition for American Idol. Don’t forget Dancing With The Stars. Don’t shop anywhere but Wal-Mart. Don’t buy gold. Those of us who take the H1N1 flumist and practice safe precautions that everyone should be practicing in flu season anyway (handwashing, sneezing into the crook of your elbow for example) are not going to create a pandemic and in fact aren’t endangering you in any way. What will create a pandemic are those freeriders who refuse to vaccinate their children and count on others to do so in hopes that they will eradicate the illness and protect the unvaccinated children as well.

For the record, the various doctors I consulted seriously question the 21 day viral shedding. I was advised to practice exceptionally good handwashing and other “flu care” type protocol for the first day after receiving the mist. Even when you have a full-blown case of the flu, you are not contagious for the entire duration, so the 21 day post-vaccination period makes no sense.

Big surprise – Doctors may disagree. That’s what second opinions are for. Personally I value the opinion of doctors I have spoken to in person over a Dr. (Dr. Teapenny) who is notoriously anti vaccine of all kinds. People who are making decisions about whether or not to take the H1N1 flumist based on her opinion should be aware that she is outspoken against vaccines in general. Google her.

The advantage of the flumist, which Dr. Teapenny did not bother to discuss and which many parents DO care about is the lack of thimerosal. Personally, I am not a thimerosal alarmist, but I have several friends with autistic children who will not use vaccines with thimerosal despite lack of conclusive evidence (totally understandable – unlike here where none of the people having this reaction have mentioned an adverse reaction or family member who has contracted any form of flu from contact with a person who received the flumist vaccine. In fact, the clinical studies report that even close household contacts have rarely reported transmission (see the CDC report), making casual contacts hardly likely to catch the actual H1N1 flu from a flumist vaccinated individual. On the other hand you or your child is at risk from catching it from some who did not receive a vaccine, got the flu and came into contact with them. And kids are dying. Not from the vaccine, from the illness.)

As for references to the insert – I have worked on lawsuits for pharmaceutical products and have seen the process such products go through with the FDA, including the inserts. These inserts are written because of potentially lawsuits, and are not an accurate reflection of risk or side effects. They are a worse-case scenario. You are all smarter than that. Any one who has a hair dryer and has read the tag warning “do not use in the bath tub” knows this.

My children received it, ages 6 & 9, at their school in the mist form (along with 292) other students. My husband & I attended several health conferences in regards to the vaccines, spoke with children’s pediatrician and specialists, all of whom advised to have the children vaccinated. I in no way made this decision lightly. I have my children vaccinated for the seasonal flu with the mist version for years. There has been no hype about it. Parents are concerned about children being around other children who have been vaccinated. The truth is our children have been exposed to other children for years that have received live vaccines and have survived. The vaccine is a weakened form of the virus. They are not vaccinating children with the actual Swine Flu.
